My fashion is in my pajamas

I have looked. I have put in some time. I prefer a modern muumuu, a linen pant, an oversized sweater, a collection of white t-shirts, and sweatshirts with catchy words. I want to dress well. I have either gained a lot of weight or taken off some pounds, depending on my mood and the mirror I have passed by. I was in a sweet cute phase for a while. I was feeling good and looking good. Lighter on my plantar fasciitis sneakers. And then my preK class was assigned Sponge Bob Squarepants for the fall musical. I wore a sunshine yellow oversized t-shirt with huge eye balls on the front. Our number was lovingly filmed and the video was emailed to me the following day. Most of the other teachers managed to stay behind the children performing. I was front and center and on the floor and darting across the stage because the children in my class were supposed to be on risers and performing on stage left. Instead they darted across the stage during other classes numbers- The Wiz, Candyman, and Polar Express. They cried for their parents in the audience. They attempted to jump off the stage when they saw their favorite PE coach. Or they froze in the middle of the stage making it difficult for other 4 year olds to dance and sing. I wrangled and smiled and dove in my non subtle t-shirt. My cute phase petered out with the replay of the musical.

But at night- which is earlier and earlier this time of year- I shine in pajama fashion.

I started after the divorce a Hanna pj phase and it continues thru today. I mean tonight. I have dipped my toes in the JCrew suitable for day or night pajamas, this year. Tonight is my first night in some brand new Where the Wild Things Are little sleepies. They make me happy. I need nothing more than that encourage my pajama fever.

You do you but I button my shirt and skip the bralette unless I am pretending they are day wear and then I devote myself to fashion and get my underwire bra out of the dirty clothes. Got to JCrew right now and you will find a sale (less than the 60$ I paid). I got a wild hair and paired the shirt with jeans one day. Now my pants are falling down big because it is difficult for me to judge my own size. I’m pretty sure my mom can cinch them up for me.

I chose a mens/unisex shirt and womens pants. I do not want a women’s shirt for pjs because I like my t-shirts like a traditional fit crewneck. The Little Sleepies (77$ ish) are bamboo. Honestly I prefer cotton but the print is spectacular so I’m willing to try these bamboo babies.

If I were going anywhere special I would go with…

I drove through Marfa Texas two summers ago so I feel justified din ordering them and not just falling prey to being trendy. (Katie Time Marfa Toile 128$)

Printfresh (138$) has a toner print that is to die for especially if your dad called you Tiger when you were a little girl.

Mersea has these formal wear pajamas for 148$.

I covet these Lake pajamas with the little shorts 98$

Pure envy. Look at her going out with the perfect slide and the perfect huge bag and luscious auburn waves. These pajamas are meant to go out and be seen and I would wear these fabulously IF, IF they came in my size. An xl is available but what sort of xl is it? Is it an XL or an xl. Are we talking 12-14 xl or 16-18XL?

What is up? I mean we are not surprised in the least. But it is flat stupid. I look for clothes- or pajamas and I see no XL or XXL or 3XL left in many an online shop. XXS have a hundred available. Why? Well I’m no genius but there are fewer XXS women purchasing lifestyle pajamas for one hundred and thirty something dollars. And I have seen progress and I have to thank Katie Sturino for all her advocacy.
I tried to buy these pajamas (118$) or any pajamas from this company Mirth that looks beautiful but all the xls were sold out. Shocker.

Doen is another company I love. They also sell out of bigger sizes quickly. They at least have lovely size inclusive models. (168$) Hard for me to justify this price but once a year I probably would.

I love love the round collar on these also, from Doen 238$ (whoa).

Mim and I chose this pattern for our matching Xmas pjs from Hanna Andersson. We did not get this women’s shape shirt because I like at unisex fit. That lower neck isn’t me. But a black Santa sure does make me happy and press PayPal quickly.

Call me 2003 but I love a Hanna print. The cotton is so comfy and seamless. It is simple and comfortable for every night and every day.

New Year’s Eve, Anyone? Sleeper has these divine creations for 234$

The dress is 315$, I mean, nightgown.

Tonight Mim is wearing a strawberry shortcake quilted cotton and polyester robe I thrifted in 2005 or 2006, over some lavender sweater pants bought at Target children’s section two years ago. She looks ultra comfy.

This is the robe she has on tonight but the sleeves stop at her elbows now.

Xmas 2002

a favorite nightie from Fox and Vince
